My still life photography is inspired by the old master's paintings that grace the great museums in Europe.  The dark appearance with natural light striking the areas of the objects that give texture and depth to the image is what I try to emulate in my photography.

I have always been intrigued by the still life paintings of the old masters.  I try to achieve  the 'Chiaroscuro' or 'Renaissance lighting' technique in my photographs. This contrast of light and dark creates a realistic look and adds texture, depth and dimension.  I also use the old technique called "sfumato' which is used to soften the edges between the areas of dark and light to create a compelling scene.
